완전초보 영어첫걸음 - '가족' 관련 다양한 영어회화 표현들

오늘은 다양한 '가족' 관련 영어표현들을 공부해 볼까 합니다. 우리가 태어나면서 숙명적으로 관계를 맺게 되는데요, 나를 낳아주신 부모님을 비롯하여 조부모님, 부모님의 형제인 삼촌, 이모들, 사촌들까지! 또한 우리가 어른이 되어 결혼을 하게 되면 또다른 가족들이 생기게 됩니다. 아내와 남편, 그 부모님들과 형제자매들, 조카들까지 ! 오늘은 이렇게 다양한 가족들을 어떻게 영어로 말할수 있는지, 또 가족이 들어간 다양한 영어회화 표현들을 함께 살펴보도록 해요 ! ^^

 

 

 

먼저 가족을 표현하는 기본 단어들부터 살펴보도록 할게요.

 

아버지 : father, dad

어머니 : mother, mum

부모 : parent

아이 : child (여럿이라면 children)

아들 : son

딸 : daughter

쌍둥이 : twin

형제 : brother

자매 : sister

남편 : husband

아내 : wife

친척 : relative

삼촌 : uncle

이모 : aunt

남자 조카 : nephew

여자 조카 : niece

사촌 : cousin

할아버지 : grandfather (granddad, grandpa)

할머니 : grandmother (granny, grandma)

손자 : grandson

손녀 : granddaughter

손자손녀 : grandchild (여럿일땐 grandchildren)

재혼후 새아빠 : stepfather

재혼후 새엄마 : stepmother

의붓아들 : stepson

의붓딸 : stepdaughter

이복형제 : stepbrother

이복자매 : stepsister

장인어른 : father-in-law

장모님 : mother-in-law

사위 : son-in-law

며느리 : daughter-in-law

처제, 시누이 : sister-in-law

그는 대가족을 부양하고 있다.

After my father was laid off, my family is at a loss over how to make ends meet.

그들은 정말 친 가족이나 다름없어요.

There are five members in my family.  

우리 가족은 모두 5명입니다.

우리는 2년 전에 이혼을 했고 그녀는 그 후 재혼을 했다.

그 아이가 새엄마에게 마음을 붙이기 시작하고 있다.

그녀는 며느리들과 사이가 좋다.

The daughter-in-law cautiously brought up the issue of moving out.  

며느리는 조심스럽게 분가 얘기를 꺼냈다.

What if I can’t get along with my stepdad? 

내가 새 아빠랑 잘 지낼 수 없으면 어떻게 하지?

그녀는 친척들을 더 자주 방문하기로 다짐했다.
